It’s still Bush’s fault

Although this is old (February), it’s new to me.

This is a terrific column from a lifelong Democrat, Chuck Green from the Denver Post.  There is real, palpable animus coming from within the Democrat ranks towards this failed President.

Just one year ago, fresh from his inauguration celebrations, President Obama was flying high. After one of the nation’s most inspiring political campaigns, the election of America ’s first black president had captured the hopes and dreams of millions. To his devout followers, it was inconceivable that a year later his administration would be gripped in self-imposed crisis.

Of course, they don’t see it as self imposed. It’s all George Bush’s fault.

George Bush, who doesn’t have a vote in Congress and who no longer occupies the White House, is to blame for it all.

He broke Obama’s promise to put all bills on the White House web site for five days before signing them.

He broke Obama’s promise to have the congressional health care negotiations broadcast live on C-SPAN.

He broke Obama’s promise to end earmarks.

He broke Obama’s promise to keep unemployment from rising above 8 percent.

He broke Obama’s promise to close the detention center at Guantanamo in the first year.

Go read the whole thing.  Put your mind in split screen mode while you read it.  Obama is off stumping in Kansas and Las Vegas today, which should be on the left side of your mental image.  Oil gushing from the floor of the Gulf should be on the right.

Update from Ace:

I know I shouldn’t give this much more attention, especially because I’ve always felt that Jimmy Buffett is a half wit who has profited handsomely by making music for mental midgets, but here goes.  The maestro of the banal,  the prince of musical nothingness for the mindless dope smoking beach bum wannabes and theme writer of the unaccomplished just HAD to weigh in and his opinion is that the oil’splosion is…wait for it…President James Buchanan’s no Rutherford B. Hayes’ no Chester A. Arthur’s fault.

The Obama-supporting musician told the Associated Press on Tuesday that he believed the Bush administration was responsible for the crisis, due to its alleged ties to oil companies.

“To me it was more about eight years of bad policy before [Obama] got there that let this happen,” said Buffett. “It was Dracula running the blood bank in terms of oil and leases.”

There was once a blogger who I believe coined the phrase ‘Stupid on Stilts’ on a now deceased blog, JunkYardBlog, which was a keeper phrase and quite applicable.  Do I need to explain it?

Nah.

But Slublog over at Ace, who is equally contemptuous of Buffett, has rewritten this medley of Buffett’s hit.

Drinking some kool-aid
Watching the sun fade
All of those seabirds covered with oil
The gusher’s still flowing
Shows no sign of slowing
Time to create a convenient foil

Throwing goodwill away with mindless BDS
Should have stuck with just singing about salt
Some people claim that Obama’s to blame
But I know…it’s that damn Bush’s fault

I don’t know the reason
But people like my wheezin’
My career is based on this one damn song
So I spout simple blather
To prove that I still somehow matter
And having these opinions proves I belong

Throwing goodwill away with mindless BDS
Should have stuck with just singing about salt
Some people claim that Obama’s to blame
Now I think…that this kool-aid’s at fault

I should grow out of this song
But it’s just been so long
Since I had to do anything but cruise
So I ride on my past hit
And mistakenly use it
For permission to comment on what’s in the news

Just throwing goodwill away with mindless BDS
Should have stuck with just singing about salt
Some people claim that Obama’s to blame
But I know…it’s that damn Bush’s fault
Some people claim that Obama’s to blame
Sill I know…it’s that damn Bush’s fault
